  • PERSONAL ESCHATOLOGY
    MODULE 4

From the passage, I have learned that the story of Creation and its unfolding through the covenants is not just a theological narrative but a formative process for the worldview of God’s people. Scripture is not just a source of information; it is a spiritual practice that shapes both individuals and the church…

  • ART OF BIBLICAL WORDS
    SESSION 5

From this session, I learned that each biblical author has a unique style, emphasis, and theological focus, so words can carry slightly different nuances depending on who is writing. It’s not enough to know the dictionary definition or general semantic range of a word, we have to study how that specific author uses…

    • May God bless you Sir

      • Great reflection. Dictionary definitions of words do not always show how the word is used in specific contexts. We must understand how a word is used in order to know which meaning is intended by the author.

        SESSION 4

From this session, I learned that most biblical words don’t have just one fixed meaning, they carry a semantic range that changes depending on context. Words like “faith” (pistis) or “righteousness” can mean different things in different passages, so it’s not enough to memorize a single definition. For example,…

        • A semantic range of meaning, yes its very important to observe

          • That’s right! Context is king. My OT/NT exegesis lecturer told us repeatedly to make context our best friend in Bible interpretation. Many have genuinely taught wrongly because they neglected context.

            MODULE 3

This lesson helped me understand something I’d never really grasped before about the Bible’s big picture. The whole storyline isn’t just a collection of random stories ,there’s this consistent rhythm running through everything: blessings and curses, faithfulness and consequences.

What struck me most is that God’s…

            MODULE 2

This lesson captures something I think we often miss about the Creation story: it’s a vivid portrait of God’s character and intentions that ripple through all of Scripture. The opening image of a child experiencing a perfect spring day really struck me because it connects us emotionally to what Eden was meant…

Module 1: Hope, the afterlife and meaning

From the lecture, I have gained a clearer understanding of personal eschatology which is the study of the “last things” as they relate to individuals, particularly the Christian afterlife. The instructor emphasizes that our view of Heaven shapes and reflects how we read the Bible and…

MODULE 2: SESSION 8: The Structure of the Eden Narrative

Generally Genesis 1 sets a foundation of what ought to be done and/or created while Genesis 2 is the filling up of what was spoken in Genesis 1. Genesis 2 is like the act of layering over the already set truth. Further, the indication that there was no man to till the ground…

MODULE 2: SESSION 8: Ancient Egyptian Cosmology

Israel existed in the same cultural environment as its ancient neighbors. So the biblical authors speak from within their ancient Near Eastern perceptions of the world. They are making worldview claims about the God of Israel through their cultural constructs. Because of this, it…

MODULE 2: SESSION 8: What Torah Says About the Bible’s Origin

The Bible was written to explain the story of God who decided to rescue his people, entered into covenant with them of which they did not uphold. Finally, they rebelled against Him but He plans to raise a prophet who would rescue them. This is the…

          • Session 3 : Art of Biblical words

This illustrates the “encyclopedia” concept I described earlier. The instructor demonstrates how New Testament authors like John weren’t just writing in Greek, they were thinking within the Hebrew Bible’s conceptual framework, even when using Greek vocabulary. The word study of “dwelt” (skēnoō) in John 1:14…

            • Thank you very much l have linked it with what l have studied recently that there is an encyclopedia of production (an author) and an encyclopedia of Reception (of a reader). For a better understanding a reader should have a built in encyclopedia while observing the encyclopedia of production (considering an author).
