CHAPTER FOUR

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

In this chapter, among the many great things that I have learnt, prequisites to Bible study is what had stood out for me, and also what one needs to do in order to grow in the knowledge of God (move from milk to meat of the word of God).

A prequisite is something that one needs to do before doing something else. Before studying the Bible, there are things that one needs to do in order to understand it. The key prequisite is that one needs to know the author of the Bible, who is God, and also accept Jesus Christ as the saviour of his /her life.This is because Spiritual things like the word of God cannot be understood by a natural man (one that is not saved).

In order to grow in the knowledge of the word of God, we need to : desire the understanding of the basic principles of God’s word (milk), be obedient to God’s word, so that we are not just hearers but also doers of the same, and put more effort to discover and understand the deeper spiritual truths of God’s word.
