The scenes of Yaaqov and Esau asking blessing from their father are constructed to mirror each other: Yaaqov’s deception and blessing reflects Esau’s revelation of the truth and non-blessing. Yitskhaq introduces new vocabulary to the Eden blessing theme. Esau’s non-blessing links him to previous non-chosen sons, Cain and Ishmael.
