MODULE 3: SESSION 21: Defining the Conquest
God is the one who drives out the enemy. He tasks Israel with destroying the places of worship and eliminating any room for other gods in the land. The conquest is not ethnic cleansing. Rather, its goal is exclusive worship of Yahweh.

I’m realising that our obedience to God is also important as you have mentioned that Israel was “tasked” with destroying the places of worship. If we do not obey, we lose a lot, especially when one looks at this as a spiritual cleansing. Worship to my understanding is spiritual and God alone deserves all of it.
