MODULE 1: Session 2

I leant something good today with regard to the difference between the meaning and significance of the scriptures. When talking about studying the Bible we have to understand that the meanig of the text is based on the narrative of the author. The meaning is mostly based on the TaNak where the author had a message for instance in the quilt and that message is intended to shape the identities and characters of the individuals and communities. The significance refers to how the readers take it in application where by there are some with the knowledge who can be able to interpret correctly but there are other who are trying to take the scripture to fit into their own context eg. in explaining the story of Adam and Even some would take it anthropologically, some in explaining gender issues and others the origin of sin. It is important to understand that what is taken might not be the original thought of the author.
