MODULE 2: SESSION 10: Giants in the Ancient Near Eastern Context

Genesis 6:1-4 is the origin story of Babylon, the empire that will take Israel into exile. The Hebrew Bible offers a sophisticated critique of monarchy. The problem of evil originates in both human and spiritual rebellion, and the Nephilim and the other giant warrior kings of the Hebrew Bible are a constant reminder of the spiritual forces at work. This continues even in the new testament where Jesus meets a person who was under the attack of legion. Also Paul says our welfare is not carnal but against principalities and powers, rulers of darkness, spiritual wickedness in high places.
