NOAH TO ABRAHAM
MODULE 6: The Cycles Begins Again
SESSION 23: God’s Covenant with Noah
Noah’s drunkenness recalls the foolish failure of the man and woman in the garden of Eden. Ham’s crime against his family recalls both the failure of Genesis 3 and the escalation of Genesis 4. Ham’s crime against his family was some form of illicit sexual abuse. The maternal incest (i.e., rape) interpretation of Ham’s sin accounts for both the severity of Noah’s response and the curse on Canaan.
