BIBLICAL MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES
Chapter 12: SUCCESS PRINCIPLES.
In God’s kingdom, success is the maximum use of one’s gifts and abilities within the range of responsibilities given by God. You are successful when you properly use your spiritual resources for the work of God. The world views success materially, God views it spiritually. The standard set by God is “faithfulness”. The world sets it’s own standards. In the world, people are multivated by greed, pride and the desire for fame. Believers are motivated to success for God’s glory. The goal in God’s kingdom is christlikeness -worldly goals are money, power and position. In God’s kingdom, success emphasizes giving instead of getting, serving instead of position, humbleness instead of pride, weakness instead of power. The world views success in terms of what you are doing, God views it interms of what you are. Excellence of character is stressed rather than excellence of achievement. In God’s kingdom, success is not measured by What you are, it is measured by What you are compared to what you could be. Success is not measured by What you do for God, it is measured by What you do compared to what you could be doing. God wants us to be successful in ministry to accomplish the purpose and plans He has for us. Some basic principles of success are: have a proper heart attitude, know the source of success, seek the Lord, meditate on the Lord, obey the Lord, be called of God, experience the presence of God, have the annointing of God, face problems and decisions, know your purpose, have a plan, implement the plan, live a holy life, seek wisdom from God, strive for excellence, do all for God’s glory, seek first the kingdom and follow the example. Success can be easily summarisrd in one statement as “Follow the example of Jesus in decision, discipline, direction and determination”. The more successful you are, the more God requires of you. This is the price of success.Brain Mbuli-
I particularly love the idea of success as the appropriate/maximum use of God-given abilities to fulfill God’s purposes. It is not always about what we achieve, but about whether we have been faithful in doing the Lord’s will.
