Introduction to the Hebrew bible- sessions 16-18
As i was studying i came to understand better about the literary representation and reality. I have actually found that through literary representation, the authors represented and framed reality through language and at times through symbols and characters.
It is seen clearly in the Hebrew bible the authors used story telling, poetry and conventions to bring about a theological reality. Unlike modern historical reporting, the biblical texts rely mainly on a clear literary artistry to present great truths about humanity and the divine. The auhors again unlike the modern historian would do by recording events used mythological language.
This was so because the authors wanted to articulate a specific worldview in which spiritual realities ie divine order conquering chaos was made legible to the ancient reader.
