From the sessions especially chapter 26 i have learned that the Israelites demeaned themselves by worshipping the golden calf. This is so because idolatry demeans the glory of God in us because we are made in the image of God. If you demean the glory of God then it means you are demeaning the very essence of your humanity. This is so because if you worship any anything else a part from God,then be aware that you are reducing the image of God in you. Also i have learned that if you worship anything which is lesser than a human being then again even your humanity is reduced. It means that by worshipping the golden calf the people of Israel reduced themselves to a value which is below humanity.
