Chapter 1: An introduction to teaching.
Teaching is the act of instructing another person which includes imparting knowledge and demonstrating how to apply that knowledge to personal life and ministry.
The teaching of God’s word was the responsibility of every old testament believer. Deuteronomy 6:6_7. After Jesus death and resurrection and before returning to heaven, he gave his disciples the great commission which was to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them .
All those who serve the lord Jesus are to be apt or able to teach others. Why ?
Because the objective of teaching is evangelism and discipleship.
We also have the spiritual gifts of teaching which a special ability of communicating God’s word effectively in such a way that others can learn and apply what is taught. God has sets some of this teachers in leadership positions to guide the affairs of the church.

Great summary, Dilan! The requirement to be able to teach must be taken seriously when recruiting elders/pastors. The eternal destinies of many hang on the balance of the faithful proclamation and explanation of God’s word.
