LESSON 3
COUNSELING AND DISCIPLESHIP

In Counseling God’s Way, the Lord wants to use the needs of our lives to bring us onto the path of discipleship, as written in Matthew 28:19. This is called the Great Commission. Counseling from God’s perspective, is first, the Lord as Counselor. This relates counseling to discipleship because when the Lord counsels, He is counseling unto discipleship.
God disciples us when we seek counseling by
– denying self and following Jesus
– receiving Jesus
– being built up in Him
– living for Jesus
– obeying Him as Lord and Master
– and receiving life from Him.
God works these same ways in the lives of others seeking counsel from us, as individuals and churches.
