Lesson 3 : The provision of Grace
The scriptural reference was taken from the book of Ephesians chapter 2 . Grace provides everything we need in Christ hence we say “the provision of Grace” The Greek word for Grace is Charis and it appears 178 times in the bible.
The word Charis also means gift ,The Greek word eu means Good .The word Eucharist ,is derived from eu and Charis , it means Good gift!
We are saved by God’s Grace . To see how Grace and predestination are blended together, we look at Romans 11 verse 6
The doctrines of predestination and election come to reality only by Grace !Grace gives us what we don’t deserve. We are saved by Grace not by works . After receiving Grace ,the product of our lives are works .You see, Ephesians 2:10 said, “We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works.”
It’s not us who do the Good works , butitsGod who does Good in us .”Christ liveth in me…the life that I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20)
Romans 11 verse 6 teaches us that Grace is not works and works are not Grace. Works are absolutely not part of the doctrine of Grace ! Whenever Paul mentions God’s name in a Greeting he connect it with Grace , for example the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ……… So , we can call that THE PERSON OF GRACE!
Apostle John did the same for example in Revelation 22 v 21 .You can’t understand Grace without understanding Jesus .t do it. He is all grace. He’s what grace is all about. That why John 1:14-17 is so beautiful in this regard. It says, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of [What?] full of grace and truth.
John was six months older than Jesus, but when referring to Jesus said “This was he of whom I spake; ‘He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me’”-John 1 verse 15.
There’s Verse 16 which says and from his fullness we received Grace for Grace (also translated Grace upon Grace). This means to say He keeps on pilling it up , his grace has an infinite supply.
Psalms 68 verse 19 Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! Selah.
We haven’t yet began to see how Great his Grace is, we will ever experience it , this concept is eternal. Ephesians 2:7, “That in the ages to come, he will show you the exceeding wealth of his grace in his kindness to you in Christ.” His ways are past finding out” (Romans 11:33)
We were not there when the world began but Grace was given to us before the world began!
Who hath saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and [what?] grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (2 Timothy 1:9)
Grace teaches us how to live for God .Titus 2:11. “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us…” When you lean on God’s Grace you begin to discover that his standards “are not grievous” (1 John 5:3)
“For by grace are you saved through faith and THAT is not of yourself. It is the gift of God .”Ephesians 2: 8 , the that in that verse is referring to Grace and not Faith ( this is controversial). Faith is the hand of the heart which receives things from God , it doesn’t save you , but it’s a channel!
When you walk into a room and find a chair , you don’t look under the chair to see if it’s holding you up , you entrust yourself to it ! So it this case Jesus is the chair , you don’t sit on the faith but on the chair.
