Lessin 18: Following Good examples

Apostle John writes to Gaius a servant of God whose hospitality was very renowned as he entertained missionaries that came his way.

He prayed that Gaius prospers and be in good health God desires good for us ps 34:8.by this he makes a correlation of your physical and spiritual health.

He further expressed joy because his brethren testified of the truth and we should do same, when our Christians grow Spiritually , he appreciate the help given by Gaius to strangers .He is complimented for his hospitality. 3 John 5. Matt 25:21 This was so helpful to visiting ministers because if the impudence of staying in motels where prostitution was predominant.

Gaius ministered to his visitors as unto the Lord and was credited for it. 3John 6. So what ever the Lord puts before us to do, we should do it well.

He points out the negative activities of Diotrephes who loved to have authority over the church and intimidated christians into obstructing hospitable works. He actually gossiped and destroyed the prace of the church. He advised Gaius not to emulate him 3 John 9-11. This man was so proud that he became an obstacle to Giss work. James 4:6

On the other hand he presents Demetrious who is signalled to have a goid testimony. We should follow people who have goid testimonies like him and people who have the truth like Gaius

Ine very important thing he points out is that he was going to discuss with them face to face. Not all should be written, or transmitted by phone. Hold physical meetings.
