Yaaqov encounters the divine both as he leaves and as he returns to the land of Canaan, echoing the spiritual guardians at the entrance to the garden of Eden. Hyperlinks to the flood narrative portray Yaaqov as building his own ark to protect him from the flood of his brother’s anger.
