DEFENSIVE AND OFFENSIVE WARFARE
CHAPTER 10
It explains the concept of spiritual warfare, describing it as a struggle between believers and the forces of evil. There are two main types: defensive warfare, which involves protecting territory already gained and responding to attacks from evil forces, and offensive warfare, where believers actively advance using the power of the Gospel to gain new ground. The story of Elisha and King Joash (2 Kings 13:14–19) illustrates that God desires complete victory, but limited effort can lead to limited success.
It outlines that success in spiritual battles begins with personal preparation, including prayer, discipline, and understanding Satan’s strategies. The Holy Spirit plays an important role by giving believers spiritual gifts such as wisdom, knowledge, and discernment to overcome the enemy. Spiritual warfare is compared to wrestling, where balance, training, and strategy are essential. Believers must resist temptations, recover from setbacks, and remain persistent. Ultimately, victory is assured through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, which has already defeated Satan.
