• Introduction to the Hebrew bible- sessions 22-24

From sessions 22-24 and am very much impressed by the section or chapter on repeated words or literary design.

What i have come to learn and understand is that repeated words and literary design is never an accident but rather an architectural deliberate tool used in creating a pattern.

It is also used in building a rhythm that confuses the reader’s psychology to emphasise some deeper themes.

I have come to realize that the repetition is used in several areas with thesame intension to to unravel the the deeper meaning of a text. In rhythm it gives the text a lyrical memory similar to that of a song. In thematic emphasis it makes the reader to pay attention to the word that has been repeated several times. It makes the reader to be more interested in that word. Repeated sound can build a mounting emotional impact. It can mirror a character’s mental state like panic or grief.

The Hebrew bible writers knew how songs, poems and repetition of words can impact and influence the reader to a better understanding of the text.
