Lesson 1: chapter 16
Topical Bible Study
It involves selecting a subject, finding relevant scriptures, and summarizing the information to understand the topic better. This method can be helpful for personal growth, addressing specific questions, or for counseling purposes.
The following steps are used in topical study:
1. Select a Topic:
Choose a general or specific subject that interests you or addresses a need in your life. For example, you might choose “love” or “forgiveness” as a general topic, or you could focus on a specific question like “how to deal with anger.”
2. Select Scripture Passages:
Identify the books or portions of the Bible that contain information related to your chosen topic. This could involve searching one book, multiple books, or the entire Bible, depending on the scope of your topic.
3. Gather Information:
Read through the selected scriptures and identify all the verses that speak to your topic. Make a list of these verses.
4. Summarize the Information:
Organize the verses in a way that makes them easy to understand. Identify the main points from each verse and create an outline, chart, or summary to help you grasp the key ideas.
