BIBLICAL MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES
Chapter 13: COUNTING THE COST.
Different aspects of the costs of spiritual leadership are:
1. Considering cost – the cost of leadership includes loneliness. A leader often experiences rejection and criticism, may experience persecution, must be disciplined and has a great responsibility to walk worthy of his spiritual calling.
2. Proper priorities – A leader is a follower who must leave a life of security for one of insecurity in the eyes of the world.
-Self denial must come before we can take up the cross.
-Empty your hands of the things of the world.
-You will never become a leader by sitting and waiting for it to happen.
-You must take the first steps: deny yourself, take up your cross and follow.
-You must follow wherever Jesus leads.
-You must forsake all else to accept this call.
-Serving others must become a priority.
-The kingdom of God must become your main priority.
3. Absolute aims
-Your aim in life must be settled.
-Do not hold back, torn between the old life and the new to which Jesus calls.
-Your commitment to leadership must be complete, and must become the absolute aim of your life.
