CHAPTER FOUR:

HOW TO INTERCEDE

The topic outlines that as we intercede there is need to approach God with confidence, knowing that prayers asked according to His will are granted. The key to effective intercession is sincerity, seeking God’s glory, and committing one’s whole being to the movement of intercession. We should pray by faith, according to God’s will, and based on His promises.

Guidelines for Intercession:

Pray in secret, continually, and without ceasing with a watchful attitude. This can involve using examples of model prayers, praying with a forgiving spirit, humility, and sometimes fasting.

Principles of effective intercession

1)Praise God for His greatness and for the privilege of engaging in ministry alongside Jesus (Hebrews 7:21).

2)Ensure a clean heart by allowing the Holy Spirit to convict and confess any unconfessed sin.

3)Acknowledge dependence on the Holy Spirit for direction and energy in prayer (Romans 8:26).

4)Deal aggressively with the enemy using the all-powerful Name of Jesus, the blood of Jesus, and the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) (James 4:7).

5)Cast your imaginations, desires, and burdens upon God in prayer.

6)Praise God believing and praying to God for direction and wisdom.

7) Pray having your Bible and referring to it for guidance.

8)When God ceases bringing things in your mind to pray finish by thanksgiving and praising Him for what He has done.

God answers our prayers according to His will and promises found in His word.

We intercede for unity in the body of Christ,relief from afflictions,healing, wisdom ,daily needs and many more.

God’s word should be well “consumed” for purposes of our prayer lives.
