PREDESTINATION PART 2
In Lesson 2 on Predestination (Part 2), I learnt that while predestination emphasizes God’s sovereign choice, human responsibility still remains. Dr. Hocking explained that people often struggle with this doctrine because it raises many questions, but we must come back to what God’s Word says. Five key responsibilities of man were highlighted: we are created with the ability to reason, accountable to God’s revelation in creation, made in His image with limited choice, responsible to obey Scripture and conscience, and without the right to question God’s authority or fairness. The lesson stressed that although we cannot fully understand God’s purposes, we must trust His goodness, wisdom, and justice. Predestination is not just about heaven or hell, but about being conformed to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). It teaches us to rest in God’s plan, to accept trials with thanksgiving, and to believe that all things work together for good (Romans 8:28). Ultimately, this doctrine calls us to humility, worship, and trust, even when life is difficult or confusing.
