MODULE 5: SESSION 24: Repeated Words and Literary Design

The meaning of a biblical passage is closely tied to its literary form, because the form itself communicates part of the message. In the same way that biblical poetry is carefully structured, biblical narratives also display intentional design with recognizable patterns and organization. These structures are not accidental but reflect the way biblical authors shaped their message for clarity and impact. Recognizing this can enrich the reader’s understanding of Scripture, since the way a story is told is inseparable from what the story conveys. While not every reader may find literary analysis necessary or helpful, for many it becomes a valuable tool in their journey of engaging the Bible. Studying how passages are designed can reveal connections, themes, and meanings that may otherwise go unnoticed, ultimately leading to a deeper appreciation of the richness and intentionality of the biblical text.
