Introduction to the Hebrew Bible – Sessions 10 -12
The major things that I learned in this module were that the Hebrew Bible did not show up in once piece all together. But that the text had grown through years and years of oral traditions, traditions in writing and then by the faithful hands of many scribes, which passed down the writings, through generations of oral traditions and traditions in writing.
That Israel has kept the story of there history, not from writings alone but through song, family stories, and memory that was passed through the entire community. That through the concept of intertextuality i saw how all of the different books were related to each other, how I should not read one book as just a story but in context of an over all story in the Bible.
The quilt analogy was so helpful in illustrating the weaving together of writings and traditions. Above all else i learned that God used real human history and real human beings to maintain his words and reveal his plan to us.
