Lesson 5 : Christology
Lesson 5 : Christology
The name of Jesus , (Yeshua Hamasheach) is found throughout the Bible through what is known as cabalism. However it’s not necessary to go so far in order to prove that Jesus is God, there are many scriptures which clearly portray the deity of Christ.
Beginning with the Book of John, we can clearly find that Jesus is the messiah and also find His deity, that’s to say he is God.John, the Beloved disciple was known (in the Apostolic age-just after Jesus and Paul) as the Great Theologian due to his Jewish style of teaching, quite interesting!
John was in His early twenties when Jesus called Him, he lived the longest among all other Apostles and that means he was well acquainted with all the heresies about the Deity of Christ, having preached to many generations.
His focus was on Jesus, his teachings differ from the synoptic Gospels. He was there on many Glorious occasions in Jesus Ministry for example on the Mount of transfiguration! He also stayed with Mary and probably heard much more about Jesus during that time.
Let’s now Look at His Deity:
One interesting fact is that there is more evidence that Jesus is God compared to the one which says THE FATHER AND THE SPIRIT ARE GOD. Looking at John 1 verse 1 to 8;Jesus is known as the Logos, which can be translated a revelation, proceeding it says He was with (Greek-pros {face to face or equal to} ) God. We get to full comprehension that this word is a person because of verse 14 “…the word was made flesh…”.
In John 20 verse 20, Thomas exclaimed to Jesus “…My Lord and My God…” Jesus Himself was not made at that proving to us that not only is he the Word (the revelation of God) but He is God Himself. “And of whom, out of Israel, as concerning the flesh, Messiah came who is over all God blessed forever. Amen.” – Romans 9 verse 5
Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of thee great God and our Savior Jesus Christ. (Titus 2:13). This scripture uses what is known as Granville sharp’s rule.
When two nouns are connected by “and,” and the definite article (“the” ) is preceding the first noun, but not in front of the second noun, it is connecting equals. When you have two nouns connected by the word “and,” and the definite article (“the”) is in front of the first noun but not the second one, it is connecting equals.
Some may argue to say, how
can Jesus be God when He is called the son of God? The answer is The word “Son”
that is used is the word, huios, a huios in Greek is one that is an heir unlike
a brephos, nepious, or a technon which refer to specific stages of child hood.in Jon 5 verse 18 the Jews interpreted the word son as equal to not less than
