Exodus overview- sessions 22-24
it has been very interesting to learn about the seven speech series. We find that the seven speeches carry specific theological meaning. They are designed in a way that echo or reflect the seven day creation account as seen in Genesis. They also call back or remind us of the garden of Eden picture. When it speaks of flowers or angels, gold and jewels it speaks of Eden. Here the tabernacle is to function as Eden but now as a portable one.It has been restored(Eden) and now God and Israel are dwelling together in peace. The speeches also spoke about God’s people being his image bearers(priests). It outlines what his priests are to put on or wear and they are seven in number. There was also an ordination process of seven days.Lastly in the final speech God reminds Israel to honour the seventh day as a day of rest.God rested in this day after completing creation.
